We had been going to an excellent trainer in Southern California with our various dogs for 11 years. Max had successfully completed basic obedience with intermediate and advanced obedience as well as agility. After we moved to Washington, Max was not getting worked much and had developed some aggression issues that resulted in biting incidents. Without more training none of us were going to survive Max's adolescence but we discovered the only trainers in Port Angeles are of the clicker/treat persuasion. None demand a high standard of behavior and some of their classes looked like the Wild, Wild West Show. We needed the structure of a class with other dogs, each of whom was being held to the same standard. The private lessons helped us get back to a point where he could walk in public without going after other dogs and people. The group classes with new dogs and people added regularly provide an ever increasing level of difficulty for Max and help us maintain consistency in our handling of him. He actually looks forward to class and working.
